Enjoy the North Wales International Jazz Guitar Festival

THE eighth North Wales International Jazz Guitar Festival returns with a local flavour.

Recognised as the world’s most exciting jazz guitar event, the event will be held at NEWI (North East Wales Institute), Wrexham from Wednesday to Sunday, August 13-16.

There will be eight festival concerts featuring the likes of Martin Taylor, Tony De Caprio, Heidi Hepler and Michéle Ramo (vocal guitar duo), John Etheridge, Sheryl Bailey, Trefor Owen, Gary Potter, and Thomas Brendgens-Monkemyer.

Trefor, a Welsh-speaker who was born in the village of Gwalchmai, Anglesey, who plays on Thursday 14, has a highly distinctive style admired throughout the UK and is a familiar figure on the US jazz guitar scene.

His CD, Wales Plays Brazil, has won widespread critical acclaim and was featured regularly on Jazz FM’s Dinner Jazz, before the station became Smooth FM.
