New Genod Droog album set for release

Genod Droog

AFTER a painstakingly long wait, Genod Droog’s debut album is almost here.

The band has been one of the most popular players in the Welsh music scene since forming in 2006.

They were chosen as the Welsh scene’s representatives at the BBC Electric Proms in London that year, and in February 2007, Genod Droog won two BBC Radio Cymru Rock and Pop (RAP) Awards for Best Live Band and the BBC Listeners’ favourite band of the year.

Gethin Evans, drummer, said: "Our aim is to create high quality live music, but to have fun while doing so.

"As individual members, we have seen hundreds of live shows by various artists and we felt Wales needed a band that revels in creating excellent live music with strong fun element."

Reviews have already been very positive, with one major magazine saying: "If they’re going to overcome the maelstrom of hype they’ve generated from the word go, they’re going to have to subvert a few preconceptions.

"Well, breathe easy, it’s as bold, brilliant and bonkers a pop debut as you’re likely to hear."

On Friday, August 1, Ni oedd y Genod Droog will be available to preorder on the Slacyr website: www.slacyr.co.uk. For further details log on to www.myspace.com/genoddroog
