KINO ANKST is an independent travelling "cinema" set up with the intention of creating unique and interesting screening events in Wales and beyond.
On Friday, January 9, this unique cinema will be sweeping up the cutting room floor and coming to Galeri in Caernarfon, starting at 7.30pm.
A screening of the music film Saunders Lewis vs Andy Warhol (A Ffilm Found on the Stockroom Floor) by Emyr Glyn Williams, which features 18 short films about late 20th century Welsh language rock music.
Between 1989 and 1998, Williams ran Welsh indie label Ankst Records, and in that time he also created a wide ranging visual record of all the great bands he worked with.
From all these sources he has pulled together the musical memoir film that is Saunders Lewis vs Andy Warhol.
He said it was "a personal film, a group portrait from a time before Welsh music was cool or devolved, and a film created exclusively from the images that I shot and independently produced at that time.
"A film found on the stockroom floor is the best description of the form of the film but a truer, more emotionally apt title for the film would be Have You Seen Your Culture Baby, Standing in the Shadows?"
He is a committed independent film maker who won a BAFTA for his debut film Y Lleill (The Others) (2005) and has seen his concert film Nobody Knows if it Ever Happened (2006) with krautrock legends Faust praised by the critics and securing a cinema run at the prestigious ICA Cinema in London.
Following the film screenings, three recent Ankstmusik signings The Stilettos, The Penny Dreadful and Annalogue will perform in the bar.
