POST Christmas and New Year blues could be banished by visiting a new exhibition at Gwynedd Museum and Art Gallery, Bangor.
The exhibition by artist Pauline Salmon, entitled A Moment in Colour and Time, will be opened officially by Arthur Flay on Saturday, January 10.
Her work will be on show until February 7.
The exhibition is a collection of paintings, drawings and 3D work, capturing the creativity of one woman over half a century.
Pauline Salmon says that she takes inspiration from the world around her and a period of living in India bears a great influence on her work.
She was educated at St Martin’s Art College in London and later read at Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris, in the 1940s.
During the 1950s, Pauline and her family lived in the Rajasthan and Bombay areas of India, the colours and richness of pattern in every day life there are still an impact on her work to this day.
"Painting is the affirmation of life around me as I’m motivated by the transforming power of light on colour and the revelation of colour also in shadow," said Pauline.
"I try to express space using patterns on sand and sea, and textures on eroded structures, such as driftwood and rocks, which make sculptural surfaces and forms.
The event will be officially opened from 11am-12.30pm on January 10, and normal museum opening hours are Tuesday-Friday 12.30- 4.30pm; Saturday 10.30am-4.30pm.
