COLEG Meirion-Dwyfor, Pwllheli reported excellent A-level results this year.
Around 175 students from Llyn and Eifionydd took the exams this summer and the college’s success rate of 98.6% is again higher than the national average, to the delight of staff, governors and parents.
The number of teenagers gaining an A grade – 35.3% – was also higher than the national average, and 18 subjects achieved a 100% success rate.
John Tudor, chairman of the college corporation, said: "Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor has been the largest educational development in the area since the introduction of comprehensive schools, and it’s great to see its success still increasing.
"It’s wonderful to see the students succeeding from one year to the next. Again this year the high standard has been upheld."
Dr Ian Rees, Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor principal said: "It’s good to see the students succeeding again this year. Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s statistics are continually better in comparison to national figure.
"This is a reflection upon the hard work of the students and the dedication of the staff.
"The results are also a tribute to the secondary schools in the area that have been teaching the students for five years before they join us at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor.
"Best wishes to the students that will be leaving us this year and of course to our prospective students expecting their GCSE results."
Lower sixth form students also received their AS grades today (Thursday).
Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s AS pass rate of 90.7% was also higher than the national average.
The A grade percentage is considerably higher 22.2% compared to the national average of 18.1%. These students will now return to Penrallt in September to complete their A Levels.
