A PENYGROES home has been partially gutted by a chip pan fire.
The blaze broke out in a property on Snowdon Street, at around 12.30pm on Sunday with 40 per cent of the kitchen destroyed.
Two appliances from Caernarfon were called to the scene and the fire was quickly brought under control.
A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “The house fire was a chip pan left unattended which resulted in 40 per cent fire, heat and smoke damage to the kitchen.”
A smoke alarm installed in the property did activate and alerted the occupant to the fire, she added.
Fire crews carried out home fire safety checks at surrounding properties following the incident.
