Rugby Union: Caernarfon and Pwllheli prepare for clash

THE name will be new but the excitement is sure to be just the same.

Caernarfon Rugby Club kick-off life in the new WRU Division One North this Saturday with a visit to promoted Pwllheli.

The Cofis enjoyed the greatest season in their history when they lifted the Division Four North title last term. They will be going all out to repeat the achievement, but will find Pwllheli a tough opening day proposition.

In the new division two north, Bro Ffestiniog visit Newtown. Bro finished runners-up in division five last season but were denied promotion on a technicality.

Newtown were relegated from four north last season so will be keen to bounce back at the first attempt and will provide a stiff early test for Ffestiniog.

In the North Wales Senior Cup round one, Bro Ffestiniog have landed a cracking home tie against holders Ruthin, Pwllheli entertain Dolgellau and Caernarfon visit Newtown.

Harlech have home advantage against Llangollen in the North Wales Intermediate Cup first round on September 20.
