Rugby Union: Caernarfon in Welsh Cup second round

BLAENGARW 3 CAERNARFON 28

SWALEC WELSH CUP ROUND ONE

FOUR second half tries secured Caernarfon a win which earned them a second round home tie against Heol-y-Cyw on October 25.

The Bridgend area club play in national league division four south east which is roughly the same level as division one north so the Cofis should have a good chance of further progression.

The North Walians only led 6-3 at half time on Saturday courtesy of two Kelvin Morris penalties, Blaengarw dominating the first quarter before Caernarfon’s fitness began to tell.

The second half was almost all one- way traffic as Caernarfon picked up the tempo.

Wing Gareth Patchett notched two touchdowns and Morris one before the Cofis scored an excellent try towards the end.

From their own 22-metre line the ball went through eight pairs of hands to create the space for Mathew Thomas to ground beneath the posts, Morris converting again.

Caernarfon face Llandudno away in the league this Saturday.
