Town’s toilets are a disgrace

PORTHMADOG is one of the chief tourist attractions in North Wales and a town we would all like to be proud of.

We are visited by visitors from many countries and the town can be full of coach parties.

And what do we offer them? The worst toilets I have seen for many years. They are like the Black Hole of Calcutta.

I had the misfortune to have to use them the other day. There was no toilet paper, they smelt and were an absolute disgrace. The hand washing facilities are so slow that when there is a queue, people get tired of waiting and leave without washing their hands. My husband tells me that the men’s toilet is dreadful, too.

For the council to say that they are not considering upgrading them is unbelievable. Surely this should be one of the most important items to be considered. If they are relying on people using Tesco’s toilets, those facilities are about three-quarters of a mile away.

It would be better if we could emulate Llangollen and charge for them rather than subject our visitors and locals to such an unpleasant experience.
