Vindicated over school closure row

WITHOUT sounding unduly self-righteous isn’t vindication a wonderful thing. Read

Traffic chaos

KINDLY permit a few observations by a long-standing ratepayer as regards changes and so-called improvements in and out of town in Caernarfon. Read

County’s shameful acts against town’s heritage

MAY I air a few views and concerns? The latest “event” of cutting down a much-adored chestnut tree seems to be one of a number of questionable incidents in Caernarfon over the years. Read

I WAS very disappointed by Ian Grundy’s attitude as reported in last week’s article about Pwllheli Sunday Market.

This market has been a long time coming and, now we have it, it behoves us all to be positive and do whatever is necessary to make it a success. Read

Attack is wrong

THE letter from Cllr Aeron Jones has to be answered, as his attack on Dafydd Iwan is way off the mark. Read

For good of the people?

IT was the very first day of the new county council. We were all assembled at the council chamber and we in Llais Gwynedd, the new party, were ready and willing to roll up our sleeves and work and co-operate with all the other councillors, new and old, “for the good of all the people of Gwynedd”. Electorate has been let down

I READ the article “Mayor to stand for second term” in last week’s edition, and some of the contents made me very angry. Read

Fond dream of reviving ferries

I WAS pleased to learn that the old argument for the resurrection of the Caernarfon and Anglesey Ferry has again raised its head and, on this occasion, by no less a person than the High Sheriff of Gwynedd, Mr Peter Rogers, who lives in Anglesey. Read

Aim to protect historic town

IT was with great sadness I noticed the majestic horse chestnut tree which stood proudly in front of the Bank on Caernarfon’s town square had early on Sunday morning been cut down. Read

Changes forced my Llais switch

MY letter entitled “Education is a vital issue” (April 3) dealt with the trigger which caused the split in the ranks of Gwynedd Plaid Cymru members and resulted in the formation of Llais Gwynedd, but the education issue was just the last straw. Read

I CAN only applaud the success of Scott Barrett in achieving his pilot gold wings at 17 years of age (Herald, May 15).

However, it is a concern that the RAF recruits children as young as 14 and 15 years of age into the cadets by seducing them with parachute jumps, camping and sports. Young people of that age cannot really appreciate that the real duties of the RAF and the other armed forces is to kill people in war as in Iraq and Afghanistan. Read

Held to ransom over road plan

ANGER, frustration and the weight of sheer common sense have provoked me to write. Read

Iwan dispels the rumours

CYNGOR Gwynedd has pioneered in many fields over the 12 years that I have had the privilege of serving as a councillor. Read

Electorate sent right message

HAVING digested the recent local election results for England and Wales, by and large I would say the electorate have got things right. Read

I HAVE just had a month of canvassing for the latest election, standing for the first time and for the price of a cheap holiday it has been a wonderful experience. Knocking on doors and meeting old and new friends, reminiscing about old times, enjoying the laconic Cofi humour.

Surprised in many a case of finding familiar faces living here and there, when I still remember them from school days in the 50s, living in certain areas like Twthill, Cefn Hendre, Maesincla, etc. When asked how long they have lived in their present home, it was usually since the 60s or 70s. Time flies! Read

Vote Plaid and you get the Tories

LABOUR did not have a good result on Thursday, May 1 and we will need to reflect on the messages given by the electorate in order to move forward with effective government. Read

Not good for Welsh economy

GORDON Brown has said he wants more immigration to Britain because it is good for the English economy. Read

Economic ethnocide

GORDON Brown has said that he wants more immigration to Britain because it is good for the English economy (bricks made in England). Read

Unhelpful image of estate people
